Originally founded in The New Inn in Llantrisant by Mick Tems, Pat Smith, Stuart Brown and Siwsann George, and now based in Pontyclun Institute Athletic Club, the Club has staged well over 4,000 intimate concerts with singers and musicians from all over the world, which is an amazing achievement. Artists from near and far love to perform at the Club, which is famous for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, its belting, wonderful harmony choruses &#8211; and its wonderful food, cooked by Pat!<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0px currentColor;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m14!1m8!1m3!1d2482.5460369000148!2d-3.3911350000000002!3d51.521544000000006!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x0%3A0x45dcf4c69525e2fe!2sPontyclun+Institute+Athletic+Club!5e0!3m2!1sen!2suk!4v1415802375530\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">The Club is blesse<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">d with all manner of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">poets, singers, raconteurs and musicians, who can turn an ordinary Song And Music Night into a wonderful\u00a0 and magical experience. However, if you want to sing and perform but are terrified of your first &#8220;floor spot&#8221;, then don&#8217;t worry &#8211; we&#8217;re a friendly bunch! We love to introduce new performers, and new audiences as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">The Club is located in the Lounge Bar of The Athletic Club, with perfect accessibility and facilities,<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\"> a welcoming atmosphere, real ale (try <strong>Jemima&#8217;s Pitchfork<\/strong> and <strong>Cwrw Gorslas<\/strong>, two absolutely lip-smacking ales, created by the Glamorgan Brewery a couple of miles from here, in Llantrisant Business Park) and a comfortable lounge &#8211; turn right at the club\u2019s main entrance, and you\u2019ll find us in the first door. The &#8216;Ath&#8217; is a perfect place to spend a Wednesday evening!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">Talbot Green, Pontyclun and the Llantrisant area has many good pubs, restaurants and take-away fast-food outlets; in Cowbridge Road, Pontyclun, near to\u00a0the Club, <strong><a title=\"Fullbrooks Bistro\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fullbrooksbistro.com\/\">Fullbrooks Bistro<\/a><\/strong> serves wonderful meals &#8211; and why not enjoy a meal and the finest of ales in <strong>The Boar&#8217;s Head<\/strong> <b><\/b>in the hamlet of Tyla Garw?<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/trattoria.co.uk\/trattoria-talbot-green\/\">La Trattoria<\/a> <\/strong>in Talbot Road, Talbot Green serves up superb Italian fare, while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miskinarms.co.uk\/\">The Miskin Arms<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in the village of Miskin was opened by S4C&#8217;s TV chef Dudley Newberry and has an extensive menu. <strong>The Draenog<\/strong> in Brynsadler serves restaurant meals and <strong>The Brunel Arms<\/strong> (opposite Pontyclun station) is handy for pub grub. You won&#8217;t go hungry in Pontyclun &#8211; there are Chinese, Indian and fish-and-chip eateries within a stone&#8217;s throw in the village (Try <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/palmtreerestaurant.co.uk\/\">The Palm Tree<\/a><\/strong> restaurant; highly recommended!) Last but not least,<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wearebrothers.com\"> Brothers<\/a><\/strong> steak and seafood restaurant, fishmonger and fish-and-chip takeaway has just opened &#8211; check it out!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">Llantrisant Folk Club has been making glorious music for more than 42 years, and you are invited to The Session! The Club offers an exciting year-round programme of international artists from these islands and the whole world over.
