THE FOLKWALES LISTINGS is an absolutely crucial service: it’s an up-to-date All-Wales Diary of Roots/Folk Events, which covers the borders with England, too – folkophiles will find it essential! The Diary below is as immediate as our latest information allows, but please phone or email to confirm details before travelling to an event. Many professional music places, theatres, agents and publicists do tell us, but last-minute alterations do happen. If you see an incorrect listing, please let us know by posting at the bottom of the page below.

    Hi Mick

My name’s Gem and I work in the marketing department at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

We’ve just launched a new live music and cabaret programme in our bar, ‘ffresh’, and we have Welsh folk-jazz group Burum playing this Saturday. Apologies for the last minute request, but are you able to add the info to your listings page please? Details below.

    Many thanks
    Gem

Burum play original jazz-influenced interpretations of traditional Welsh folk melodies.
Part of a new live programme at Wales Millennium Centre’s ffresh bar.

      Hi Gem,
Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll publish Burum’s gig right now. Ceri Rhys Matthews (from Fernhill) used to be an original member, but I think he’s dropped out now – but Fernhill musician Tomos Williams (trumpet) still plays for Burum, which is Welsh for ‘yeast’.
I want to publicise all the WMC’s folk-roots events; could you email me on micktems@folkwales.org.uk , please? It’s no good relying on this WordPress mailbox, which is absolutely clogged up with spam – I might miss out on a really important event! It’s great to touch base with you, and just keep those press releases coming!
      Mick
